Welcome to Blue Ridge Food Ventures:

The EmPOWERing Mountain Food Systems Project is partnering with Blue Ridge Food Ventures to support value-added production in our region. Producers are eligible to receive up to $3,000 in technical support, consulting, and rental fees associated with production at the BRFV facility. This video will help you as a producer determine the value of starting your production process at BRFV.

EmPOWERing Mountain Food Systems is a three-year project funded by the Appalachian Regional Commission, the Cherokee Preservation Foundation, and NC State University.

Simplex AS-1 Piston Filler:

Learn about the Simplex AS-1 Piston Filler. This electric, table-top, semi-automatic piston filler is ideal for filling a wide variety of liquid products, including cosmetics (lotions, shampoos, masks, scrubs, toners, body oils) and food (salsa, sauces, dressings, oils, chocolate, mayonnaise, jams/jellies).

Natural Products Room:

Learn about the Natural Products Room where you can apply a label to round and straight-sided objects. The hot stamp printer may also ink an alphanumeric stamp on the label (best by date, lot code, etc).

Entrepack Vertical Band Sealer:

Learn about the Entrepack Vertical Band Sealer. The vertical band sealer is designed to seal bags of various materials, such as polypropylene, polyethylene and aluminum foil. Bags are held vertically on a conveyor belt while they are sealed.

Jaws TP-30 Tube Sealer:

Learn about the Jaws TP-30. This pneumatically-operated plastic tube sealer is used for sealing the filling end of squeeze tubes such as toothpaste tubes.

UltraVac 500 Vacuum Sealer:

Learn about the UltraVac 500 vacuum sealer. This machine can seal flexible pouches while removing air from the package to prevent oxidation and increase shelf life. User can also set the machine to add an inert gas to the package to further prolong shelf life.
